A Message From the President
|
Hi everybody,
Its just about the end of February, and as we sit damp and cold after one of the most miserable winters in years, it’s time to start thinking about the coming season. It’s coming fast and we have a great deal to do to be ready.
A great deal of work has already been done in the past couple of months but now it’s time to mobilise the whole club to ensure that 2010 is the best season ever.
The Lafbery Pavilion
Our wonderful new facility continues to progress. We still have some internal work to complete but we are very hopeful that we will be ready for the start of the season. Our most pressing issue at the moment is to acquire some new tables. We need about 20. They need to be substantial, ideally square or rectangular, and be big enough for four people to sit round. We are not asking for “cast-offs” (although we are happy to consider any kind offers), but we know that there are lots of businesses, pubs etc that are being refurbished and may have quantities of redundant furniture that we could use. If you know about any opportunities, please let us know.
100 Club
How many of you know that we run a 100 Club that is a major fund raiser for the club throughout the year. The cost is only £5.00 a month for one number, and there are three highly attractive cash prizes drawn every month. If you would like to become a member, please contact Phil Lafbery on phil@lafberychauffeurs.com , and he will send you full details.
Registration Evening
For the first time this year we will be holding a formal registration evening for both Youth and Senior members alike. It will take place in the Lafbery Pavilion on Friday 26th march from 6.00 p.m. The object of this evening is for us to start the major administrative task of collating player registrations as early as possible.
At the same time we will be hosting our kit suppliers CF Sports who will be displaying a wide range of clothing and equipment, and also will be promoting the ECC 100 Club (see above).
Nat West Cricketforce Weekend
The annual Nat West Cricketforce weekend will commence on Friday 26th March. This is our annual initiative when all members of the club can come together and undertake many of the maintenance tasks that we need to carry out to Little Bounds after a long hard winter. Traditionally we enjoy a good turnout of support during thios weekend, and every offer of help, even if it is just for an hour is greatly appreciated. The club will provide the materials and the refreshments; you provide the muscle.

Congratulations - New Arrival

A New Baby Harrison!
Congratulations to Sharon and Alan Harrison on the birth of their new baby boy.
"Name is yet to be confirmed but we call him Harry at the moment" says Alan. Born on Tuesday 17th November weighing 8lbs 11.5ozs mother and baby Harry are said to be doing well.
A sketch of little Harry taken shortly after birth can be found below.
