Obituary
It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Dave Mitchell, who died suddenly in November.
Dave was father to Alex and Nick Turner and our hearts go out to the boys and to Helen.
Whilst, Alex was playing his cricket at Ellerslie, Dave could often be found wandering around Little Bounds watching the game. Fond memories for all who knew him.
God bless.

| A message from the New President - Ian Perry |
|
Dear All, A message from the New President It was a great honour for me to have been elected as President of Ellerslie Cricket Club at the AGM in December. John Leaver has done a fantastic job leading the Club over the last 12 years and driving it forward to the strong position it is now in. On behalf of everyone associated with the club, thanks John. Running a Club the size of Ellerslie is a mammoth task and there are many people involved behind the scenes giving up a great deal of their time to ensure the facilities at Ellerslie are the best for playing cricket and socialising. A great big thank you to each and everyone one of you. Success On The Field The 2011 season was an excellent season for Ellerslie Cricket Club with the 1st XI finishing mid table in division A, the 2nd XI gaining promotion to Div D, whilst the 3rd XI came close to being promoted for the second successive season. The Youth section continues to flourish with some strong performances during the season and a number of players being invited to County trials. The Youth section continues to provide a number of youngsters playing senior cricket to continue the strong tradition of youth players progressing "through the ranks." The 4th XI 2012 will see the introduction of a 4th XI which will give even more opportunities for our younger players to become involved in Senior Cricket. What Do We Need? Whilst things on the pitch are going from strength to strength there are a couple of areas that the Club do need to focus on during 2012:
- Income Generation & Fund Raising
- Support for the Youth Section
A New Events/Social Committee It has been suggested that the Club forms an events/social committee so that the many ideas that are put forward can be carried through to ensure that the excellent facilities at Little Bounds are used to their maximum. So What Can You Do?.... Email Me! - Are you already supporting the existing schemes that are in place, are you in the 100 Club, do you use the Ellerslie Web Shop when buying on line (see our website for details), do you support the events that are held annually, do you visit Little Bounds on match days to watch both the senior and youth games?
- Are you prepared to give some time to the Club to help with social events and fund raising or have you any suggestions for events or access to funds. If so can you e-mail me at ian.perry1@hotmail.co.uk by the end of January.
Meeting In February I am proposing that an initial meeting be held at Little Bounds early in February, but this will be confirmed towards the end of the January. In respect of the Youth section I will talk to Phil Davey to discuss what support he requires, this does not only involve coaching but also helping at Little Bounds on training and match nights including, for example, opening the bar or running a tuck shop. Every penny that the club raises goes back into the costs of running the club, but more importantly it keeps the costs of Cricket low for our members without having to increase match fees and annual subscriptions. I am very excited about the future of Ellerslie Cricket Club and hope that you will all get involved in continuing the great success of the Club. Here's wishing you all a very happy New Year and successful 2012 season. Kind Regards, Ian Perry Hon President.

In the early hours of Saturday 8th January 2011, we lost our dear friend Ron Lafbery. It hardly seems possible that a year has already passed by since that sad day. In the immediate period after his death, Ron's memory was constantly celebrated throughout the cricketing world. Gradually, that celebration has abated to leave a wealth of happy memories to all who knew Ron. For his family however, and for those of us lucky enough to share the task of guiding our great club, with Joyce and Ron, he is always with us. Personally, I never leave a prepared pitch without asking him if it's OK. John Leaver Hon. Secretary

| Senior Winter Nets Start Wednesday 4th January |
|
Dear Member, Only 118 sleeps to the New Season - Time to get back into action. Ellerslie CC Winter Nets Start Weds 4th January from 8pm - 9pm. Hadlee Hall, Trent Bridge. Cost £4 Per Session. Please Note - We only have one net booked due to net availability, so we are limited to a max 8 people in the nets. To be fair to everyone, places will have to be allocated on a strictly first come first served basis. If you would like to ensure a place each week, or for a particular session, I suggest that you email/text me in advance to ensure you have a place. You can turn up on the night and hope for the best and we will try to accomodate people where possible. However, we are limited to a max number in the nets, due to safety and insurance and so we will have to turn people away once we have reached the max number. Hope to see you there and feel free to email/text me to book a place. Regards, Alan Harrison.
